More about Lloyd: Lloyd took up marathon running as an adult. While training with local runners over the past few years, he discovered that he enjoys working with adult runners by conveying training plans and leading group sessions. After playing team sports and golf in high school and college, Lloyd learned to run and developed the running lifestyle as an adult. While serving in the U.S. Army for nearly ten years, Lloyd learned to compete in the two mile race for the army PT test and gradually discovered local road races. Inspired by an army colleague who was an Ironman triathlete, Lloyd ran his first marathon in 1998 at the Portland Marathon (OR) and finished in 3:18. In 2003, Lloyd took residence in Ohio and returned to marathoning. It was not long before Lloyd discovered the Cleveland area's great park systems and supportive road and trail running scene. Lloyd discovered the ups-and-downs of marathon training with three near-miss BQ marathons, becoming a better student with of the sport with each passing marathon. After two 3:13 and one 3:15 marathon performances over the span of two years, Lloyd finally made the breakthrough by qualifying for Boston at the 2005 Flying Pig marathon. Since then, Lloyd has split time between marathon and ultramarathon training and racing. He gradually increased the distance over the span of two years by running the JFK 50, Laurel Highlands 70, and Mohican Trail 100 mile races. Lloyd finished the 2007 Mohican Trail 100 in ninth place in 21 hours, 16 minutes. Lloyd currently trains with several area running clubs. Lloyd is also a volunteer captain at the Buckeye Trail 50k and Burning River 100 Mile, both races which are part of the Western Reserve Trail Running series. Lloyd is actively engaged with the mission of the WRTR to connect people and parks. Lloyd envisions the return of the 24 hour ultramarathon to Ohio and is working to bring the event to our region. Lloyd is now seeking both new and experienced runners to provide coaching services. Ready to start your personal running program?
