About Lloyd

Lloyd Thomas is a RRCA-certified running coach and NASM-certified personal trainer based in NE Ohio who offers individual coaching and training programs for runners.

  • While serving in the U.S. Army, Lloyd trained for and raced the 1998 Portland (OR) Marathon at age 27.
  • Certified running coach by the Road Runners Club of America since 2008
  • Certified personal trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2009
  • An experienced distance runner, marathoner, and ultramarathoner (races greater than standard marathon)
  • 4+ years experience coaching local marathoners, mostly within 3:00 - 4:00 hour ability groups
  • Developed a training program that consistently trains runners to a personal best; includes many Boston Marathon qualifiers
  • Veteran of 30+ marathons
  • Three-time Boston Marathon finisher (2006, '08, '11)
  • Completed 20+ ultramarathons, including the Mohican Trail 100, Massanutten Mountain Trails 100, Laurel Highlands 70, JFK 50 Mile, and numerous 50 km races
  • Recent PRs: 5k - 17:37, Half Marathon - 1:21:53, Marathon - 2:54:58

  • Leadership, training, and teaching traits developed within a 9+ year U.S. Army career as Non-commissioned and Commissioned officer
  • Race director of the Fools Trail Run 50km & 25km
  • Member of several area running and training clubs and well-connected to the NE Ohio running scene. Knowledgeable with area trail running and park systems.
